Internet

You can connect these devices to cable Internet even if you think they can’t

Generally, we can think that connecting wired devices to the Internet is limited to a computer. However, there are many additional options. Even some that you may not have expected, since it is not usually the most common. If you are having problems with the wireless connection, keep reading because these options may interest you.

Ethernet cable devices

Mainly we are going to focus on some of the most used ones. However, there are many more options that you could also take advantage of to connect via Ethernet cable. Not only is it about connecting them directly to the router, but you could also connect them to another access point, such as a Mesh system or PLC devices.

Television

A clear example is television. Although the usual thing nowadays is to connect it via Wi-Fi, the truth is that the signal does not always arrive as we would like. This can translate into problems watching Netflix or any other streaming video platform. You may experience cuts and difficulties connecting.

Many TV models have the option of connecting via cable in addition to Wi-Fi. But beware, you could even add a Gigabit Ethernet port to the television. This can be especially useful to be able to achieve good speed and, most importantly, connection stability.

Mobile

Yes, you can also connect your mobile network cable to the router directly. It is not common, it is something that not many users know is possible, but it is. If you are going to be browsing with your mobile from areas very far from the router and you have an Ethernet cable installation at home, it is an alternative that you can take into account.

Now, it is clear that you cannot use an Ethernet cable and connect it directly to the mobile. It does not have that port available. What you need is a USB C to Ethernet adapter. This is what will allow you to plug in a network cable and have access to the Internet in this way.

Tablet

Something similar happens with a Tablet. In this case, it is quite common for the Wi-Fi signal to not reach well. They do not always have a good wireless receiver, there could be difficulties receiving the signal and, ultimately, it may be more convenient to connect via network cable and thus avoid problems.

As in the previous case of the mobile, you will also need a USB to Ethernet adapter. Only then will you be able to connect by cable and have access to the Internet with greater stability. You can connect it to a repeater with an Ethernet connection, to a Mesh system, PLC, etc.

Laptop without Ethernet port

Nowadays, it is quite common to find laptops that do not have an Ethernet port. The reasons are several. On the one hand, the savings in materials when manufacturing the devices. On the other hand, the lower use of wired connections and the greater presence of Wi-Fi networks everywhere.

However, this does not mean that you cannot connect your computer via cable if it does not have an Ethernet port. You will simply have to buy an adapter and connect it to a USB port to, in this way, have access to an Ethernet port and connect it by cable.

As you can see, there are several devices that you will be able to connect to the Internet via cable. Not only is there the option of a computer with an Ethernet port, but you can also connect a mobile phone, tablet, television or even a laptop that comes from the factory without an Ethernet port.
