Logitech Introduces G Pro X 2, The World’s First Graphene-Powered Headphones

Much has been said about graphene in the world of modern computing, and in fact a few years ago it was considered the almost miraculous material that was going to advance technology to levels that, with the current technology, are unattainable. However, due to the difficulty of handling it, in the end, few manufacturers have dared to use it in their products.

Graphene in headphones… what for?

However, when it comes to headphones, Logitech does seem to have found the panacea in this material: because it is extremely rigid and extremely light, it is ideal for audio peripherals, where the lowest possible weight is sought for greater comfort but also the best possible audio quality… and this is something that, precisely, graphene provides.

Why is it interesting to implement graphene in headphones? As you already know, what produces sound in speakers (after all, headphones have speakers) is the diaphragm, the part that vibrates. The more elastic the diaphragm material, the more oscillations are produced to generate the waves, producing distortion and noise. However, since graphene is so rigid, it returns to its position instantly as soon as it finishes emitting the wave, making the sound fidelity practically complete.

Live Edge Logitech Suspension

This is what Logitech has dubbed Live Edge Suspension. Obviously, and as you can see in the slide that we have placed above these lines, the brand has tuned the neodymium magnet (what they call the driver motor) and the equalization to adapt to these diaphragms made of 90% graphene (they could not be 100% graphene because otherwise they would be too brittle, and the point is that they must be somewhat flexible to be able to vibrate and produce sounds), but it is also that the diaphragm remains in suspension, allowing the graphene to, to a certain extent, move freely (so you can return to your original position sooner).

In short, by using graphene in the construction of these headphones, Logitech manages to make them lighter and also that the sound has a higher fidelityno more no less.

The Logitech G Pro X 2 arrives

Ok, we have already told you that these headphones are lighter (they weigh 345 grams, 25 grams less than the predecessor model, the Logitech G Pro X) and that they have greater fidelity, but logically calling on the press to present some Simple headphones wouldn’t make much sense, so there’s a lot more to talk about.

Logitech G2 Pro X

For starters, these headphones have triple connectivity; On the one hand we have the connection that we will use more frequently, the Logitech Lightspeed (which is nothing but RF at 2.4 GHz optimized) that has been improved to have a even lower latency and, beware of the data, its scope has been extended to the 30 meters away.

On the other hand, the new Logitech G Pro X 2 also allow connection through Bluetoothin case you want to use them with a smartphone or similar to listen to music on the street (for which you are also interested in knowing that the microphone is removable), and of course if you prefer a more traditional connection, they allow you to use a cable 3.5mm mini jack for analog audio.

The battery has also been improved and now provides up to 50 hours of autonomy, something that is very welcome in headphones that are designed to be used wirelessly. Finally, the brand has also guaranteed us that they are much more comfortable than the previous version, and this has been emphasized by professional players from the Heretics eSports team who were present during the presentation.

Price and availability

The new Logitech G Pro X 2 are officially announced today, but will not be available until May 30, 2023. They are initially priced at €269 in the official store of the brand, and it will be the same price at which we can find them in the usual distributors of the brand, such as Amazon Spain or PcComponentes.

By the way, during the presentation the brand gave us a unit of these new headphones, so you can expect our analysis in the coming days, in which we will show you first hand and we will tell you how they work at the moment of truth. Stay tuned!
