Amazon will flag ‘often returned’ products that you may not want to buy

Amazon sometimes offers low-quality or counterfeit items, but it looks like the e-commerce giant is trying to fix that by creating a new label that will indicate if a product is frequently returned.

Amazon’s free and easy return policy for the vast majority of its items is key to the company’s success. However, it looks like the e-commerce giant is now trying to reduce the number of returned products that come back to its warehouses.

In recent months, the e-commerce giant has introduced a new badge on certain products announcing ” frequently returned item “. The latter urges buyers to check product details and customer feedback on items that have a significantly higher return rate in their product category.

Amazon will show you the products that often return to its warehouses

This new indication should allow you to save time during the product search phase. Even if you are used to carefully checking an item’s description and reviews before buying it, you can now immediately know if a product is returned often, before you even dive into reading the comments.

At this time, it’s unclear if this is the only label Amazon will add to its product pages. It would be interesting for the e-commerce giant to add other warnings based on consumer feedback, such as “size large” for shoes, “often arrives damaged” for the most fragile products or even “breakage in after one month” for poor quality products. One imagines that these could be directly integrated into several pages of the company’s own Internet browser, which Amazon has been working on for several months.

For the moment, only a small group of users should be able to see this new label. We therefore do not know when it will be more widely visible to all customers of the platform. It also remains to be seen how consumers will react to this addition.
