AMD and OnePlus refused to attend CES 2022

Many of the biggest names in the tech industry over the past week have announced that they are canceling their plans to attend in-person at the upcoming annual CES 2022. And as CNET now reports, companies such as AMD and OnePlus have also made similar announcements. … Thus, at the moment, they are the last companies to abandon the physical presence at the aforementioned technological event. And despite the fact that they decided not to provide any detailed explanations in this regard, it is more than obvious that this step is clearly a kind of response to the continuing increase in the number of cases of human infection with COVID-19, in particular its new strain Omicron.

At least AMD said the company decided to virtualize its personal contacts in the “interest” of everyone’s health. And in general, AMD, if you are not aware, has been ready for quite some time for the announcement and release of its products in 2022 as part of the live broadcast, which will take place on January 4. So, in general, little will change for AMD, because initially the company was just going to focus on the virtual part. In the meantime, OnePlus has previously announced that it will unveil its new OnePlus 10 Pro in January.

And although the exact date or event at which this will take place has not been indicated, it is highly likely that the company is going to do it precisely within the framework of CES 2022. So these two large tech companies are joining numerous large brands that have similarly refused to participate in real CES. The list, for now, includes such giants as Amazon, AT&T, General Motors, Google, Intel, Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft, and T-Mobile. Some of the participants have so far remained silent about this, while many others have been focused exclusively on virtual presentations from the very beginning. The most striking example of this is NVIDIA.

However, it should be mentioned that the organizer of this exhibition, the Consumer Technology Association, is still planning to organize this event with the possibility of a face-to-face meeting, and also believes that its health and safety measures will be sufficient to ensure the protection of visitors. But yes, if you expected at the beginning of next year to see the “revival” of the above-mentioned exhibition due to the participation of the overwhelming majority of large companies in the format of a personal meeting, then, unfortunately, your wishes are not destined to come true yet.
