AMD has a secret weapon to encourage you to buy its Ryzen 7000

Ryzen 7000 processors have represented a major leap compared to the previous generation, both in terms of IPC and the platform on which they are integrated. However, this latest improvement has also become a major problem, because to access this new platform it is necessary to buy a new motherboard and acquire a DDR5 memory kit.

If we put both keys together, it is clear that in order to mount a Ryzen 7000 processor we have to make a significant investment, something that is not within the reach of many users, especially with the current economic situation. To improve this reality and democratize access to the AM5 platform, AMD is preparing the launch of the chipset A620a solution that will allow the arrival of motherboards with a starting price of about 100 euros approximately.

The fact is that thanks to new information we have been able to discover that AMD has an ace up its sleeve, a secret weapon with which it hopes to give an even greater boost to its AM5 platform and the Ryzen 7000. I’m talking about a version of the A620 chipset that would use the Promontory 22 module, and would further reduce the price of sale of those new motherboards. If this is confirmed it would be fantastic, since to mount a Ryzen 5 7600X or even a Ryzen 7 7700X we do not need a motherboard with a complex design or a particularly expensive VRM.

The release date of the first A620 chipset motherboards has not yet been confirmed, but they have appeared on various EEC listings, so we know they exist and that their arrival is only a matter of time. It will be interesting to see what the main motherboard manufacturers offer us, and also what prices they end up having. I personally believe that an A620 motherboard with a price between 90 and 100 euros would be a real candy to mount a Ryzen 5 7600, and that it would end up playing a fundamental role in improving the sales of the Ryzen 7000 in general.

I remind you that the A620 motherboards will have a more limited set of specifications than the B650, and that their level of benefits will also be lower. Don’t expect PCIe Gen5 connectivity, and don’t expect CPU overclock support either. Nevertheless, yes it should be possible to overclock the memoryOtherwise, it would be like shooting yourself in the foot, especially considering the impact RAM speed has on Ryzen 7000 processors.
