Nobody expected it, nor asked for it, but here it is: AMD took everyone by surprise yesterday when it presented its all-new RX 6400. With an extremely attractive price of €145, it accuses a more than limited technical sheet, which will struggle to run recent games at 1080p.
At the start of the year, AMD turned things around slightly by unveiling the RX 6500 XT, a graphics card that has been debated for a long time because of its light technical data sheet. With this GPU, the manufacturer has clearly put aside its promise to only offer powerful models for gamers, preferring to attract new users with an unbeatable price.
Quickly, rumors announced the arrival of an even cheaper RX 6500, since it would cost 130 €. AMD finally opted for an RX 6400, which was only slightly more expensive: €145. As you can imagine, the GPU is not there to revolutionize the market with gargantuan figures and staggering benchmarks. Less expensive than the RX 6500 XT, it also does less well.

Indeed, you should not be too careful about performance if you are thinking of getting a copy. With a power of 53W (half as much as the RX 6500 XT), 12 processing units, a bandwidth of 128 Gb/s, we have a graphics card that is satisfied with the bare minimum. This explains its mini format which is one of its advantages: you will have no trouble fitting it into your PC.

Another advantage: no need for a power supply to run the beast. This draws all its juice directly from the PCIe port on the motherboard. It remains to speak of the results at stake which are, necessarily, rather unconvincing. Forget 1080p right away on titles like Elden Ring or Cyberpunk 2077. Instead, aim for games with more permissive DA, such as Fortnite, accompanied by a processor better able to support the workload.
