According to the company, a typical user will have a minimum of 100 messages every eight hours, always depending on Claude’s capacity.

Anthropic will also notify users when they only have 10 messages left to use until the eight-hour period set to reset the available amount and return it to its initial amount passes. Claude Pro will have other limits, such as the size of the associated files sent to the bot, and the length of the conversation.

The company launched Claude last March as a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, billing it as a bot that’s easy to chat with and less likely to produce harmful responses. In July, it launched its second version, Claude 2, which is also only available for now in the US and UK, and is the basis for the Claude Pro plan.

The free version of the bot will continue to be accessible through the claude.ai website, with its usage and conversation limits, and with waits during periods of high usage. According to the company, it needs these limitations, since Claude 2 needs to use high-powered equipment to run, in addition to because with them, Claude can allow its new users to test its capabilities for free and those who make more extensive use of your resources can integrate the bot into their daily workflows.
