Asus Zenbook 14 OLED and Space Edition: space computers

Asus has decided to make big announcements at this edition of CES 2022. After having surprised with the Zenbook Fold, here is the “Space Edition”.

During the Asus presentation party called “Incredible Unfolds”, everyone had their eyes on the new 17-inch Zenbook Fold, and with good reason. It is neither more nor less than the very first folding computer in the history of the firm, and almost computing (except for the last ThinkPad from Lenovo, halfway between the tablet and the computer).

But while the Taiwanese firm presented with great fanfare the arrival of its youngest, other products were also in the spotlight in this announcement, starting with the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Space Edition. The latter is a special version of the 14-inch Zenbook which we will discuss in detail later, this edition is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Asus P6300’s 600-day space mission.

This model offers unique details on the space and a most refined finish. With a brand new color, baptized Zero-G Titanium, Asus doesn’t do things by halves. If the exterior of the machine is already dreaming, Asus has focused all its efforts inside to offer incredible performance.

A computer that meets space standards

Indeed, the firm worked in collaboration with the American agency for the regulation of technological products for space. This computer is therefore able to operate at -24 ° C as well as at + 61 ° C. In addition to this ability to withstand heat and cold, the computer is able to withstand vibrations ranging from 20Hz to 2000Hz.

Finally with regard to pure performance, the computer is entitled to the best. At the processor level, a 12th generation Intel chip as well as an Intel iris Xe graphics card with 32 GB of RAM. The whole thing is covered by a 2.8K touchscreen OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate.

The little thing in addition to this computer concerns the arrival of a small 3-inch screen on the back of the computer. The latter must make it possible to display messages and animations of all kinds when switching on or using the computer. This “ZenVision” is exclusive to the Space Edition. Asus announced that the computer will be sold during the second quarter of the year at a price of € 1999.

The “classic” Zenbook 14 OLED

Regarding the “classic” version of this new 14-inch Zenbook, Asus has nevertheless kept the latest Intel processor, but also a graphics card with up to 16 GB of RAM. If the color “Zero-G Titanium” is obviously not available, Asus nevertheless offers two new colors for its computer: Aqua Celadon, and Ponder Blue. Designed in collaboration with Intel, this computer is announced by the brand as light (1.36 kg), but also powerful thanks to its processor and graphics card.

Thanks to its high-end features, this computer meets Intel Evo standards. Available from the second quarter of the year, the Zenbook 14 OLED will be sold at a price of € 1,499, or € 500 less than the “Space Edition”.
