BMW has just announced the arrival of more than 180 games accessible in the cloud directly from the dashboard of its cars. Unlike its competitor Tesla, which allows you to play using your steering wheel, the German manufacturer innovates by allowing you to control games with your smartphone, simply by scanning a QR code.
Gone are the days when our cars were only used to get around. With the advent of electric cars (and the long minutes to wait for them to be recharged), manufacturers are now making it a point of honor to entertain drivers and passengers. Tesla is undoubtedly the most advanced in this process, the manufacturer giving pride of place to video games, with in particular the upcoming arrival of Steam in its vehicles.
This innovation has visibly made the competition react, according to BMW’s recent announcement. Indeed, the German firm also plans to integrate games into the dashboard of its cars. And it does not do things by halves: according to the press release that accompanies the news, more than 180 games will be accessible to users via AirConsole.
BMW winks at gamers
As its name suggests, AirConsole is a company specializing in cloud gaming. In other words, the games offered by BMW will not be installed directly on its cars, but must rather be launched with the connection enabled by the SIM integrated into the vehicle. This is not the only difference with Tesla’s solution. Indeed, unlike the firm of Elon Musk which allows you to control your games with the steering wheel, BMW has opted for the smartphone.

Thus, all you have to do is scan a QR code which will be displayed on the dashboard to transform your phone into a controller. Something for the whole family to enjoy. The games will be both solo and multiplayer and will mainly be placed in the arcade category, again with an emphasis on the family with titles like Monopoly or various puzzles.
