Borderlands 3 crashes on the Xbox Series S, whose fault is it?

The Xbox Series S in a reduced version of features compared to the Series X. It is characterized by being based on an AMD APU that has RDN2 graphics. It also includes a 512 GB PCIe SSD and 10 GB of GDDR6 memory. The problem would come from the fact that the memory is shared between the processor and the graphics card.

Although we have 10 GB of GDDR6 memory, not all chips are the same. There are 8 GB GDDR6 with a bandwidth of 224 GB/s and 2 GB GDDR6 with a limited bandwidth of 56 GB/s. They are shared between the processor and the graphics card dynamically.

Borderlands 3 does not work well on the Xbox Series S

Several users on Reddit are reporting problems with the Borderlands 3 game on the Microsoft console. The game works without a problem on the Xbox Series X, but on the reduced version of this console, it gives problems.

Digital Foundry and The Verge have indicated that the xbox series s it’s a problem for the developers. It “forces” them to optimize their games more than they would like. It has a less powerful graphics card and does not support ray tracing. There would be a significant bottleneck that affects performance in games.

According to various informations, Microsoft Faced with complaints, it has launched a special development kit. Allows game creators to have more manageability of console memory.

ANDl memory allocation problem on the Xbox Series X and the “only” 10 GB GDDR6, it’s a problem. We must bear in mind that most of games they already begin to recommend at least 16 GB of RAM. In addition, they require graphics cards with 6-8 GB of VRAM, which adds up to more than double what Microsoft’s console offers.

In addition to the reduced capacity, which is not in line with current “demands”, we have the bandwidth imbalances. It is rare that 2 GB GDDR6 has such a surreal slow speed.

Gearbox, developers of Borderlands 3, would be working on a patch that fixes the problem. Also note that it is not a problem present in all users, but that it affects some users.

Whose fault is the problem?

Anyone looking at the recommended requirements for the latest PC games will see that 16GB of RAM is the norm. Some games already recommend at least 32 GB. They also demand modern graphics cards, some even blatantly tell you that “only” NVIDIA RTX are worth it.

Removing the happy Ray Tracing (which is only worth stopping the graphics cards) there is not a great graphic improvement. The games use more modern engines, which are theoretically much better graphically. The problem is that the games are not optimized, they are launched and as they are.

We see games that are 200-300 GB in size, which is truly insane. Games with hundreds or thousands of bugs and problems at launch. Just yesterday I played Modern Warfare 2 which has been updated.

Even though I have a very good system, it got me in the zone with the sandstorm and the game was going like ass for me. So much so that I died without knowing the reason, without knowing what had happened. Something that forced me to make graphic adjustments and activate DLSS in order to have an acceptable FPS rate.

Warfare 2 Session 3 is full of bugs, graphical issues and well, face disconnects are still the norm.

Hello @es_warzone. The game has a number of bugs and unfortunate issues, but getting stuck inside a buy box is a real pain in the ass. Losing all the inventory for this, because pathetic is an understatement. #Warzone2 https://t.co/oQgwoR64Gq
