Curved and with 165 Hz: this is the Newskill Icarus IC24VAF165 monitor

The Spanish manufacturer Newskill adds and continues, and has presented a new member in its family of Icarus monitors, with a catalog now larger than ever with which they seek to cover all the possible needs of users. We are before the Newskill Icarus IC24VAF165with curved screen 1500R 23.6 inches, Full HD resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate.

Many times we have talked about the advantages and disadvantages of curved screens, but in general terms, when you want to use the monitor for gaming or multimedia entertainment, they allow you to have the sides of the monitor at the same distance from the eyes as the central part, generating a greater sense of immersion and thus improving the gaming experience.

This new member of the Newskill Icarus family carries a screen with a panel LED-VA of 23.6 inches and Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), a panel that allows it to carry ideal characteristics for gaming such as its response time of only 1 ms MPRT and its 165 Hz refresh rate, which by They are of course compatible with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC adaptive frequency technologies.

Some users will think that because it has a VA panel the color reproduction will not be good, and although it is true that it is inferior in this respect to IPS panels, this monitor has a color coverage of 95.9% of the sRGB space and a maximum brightness of 250 nits, so both the color reproduction and the whites and blacks are more than adequate for gaming.

One of the most outstanding features of this monitor is undoubtedly the 1500R curvature of the screen, which as we have explained before allows a greater immersion in the game since it makes the sides of the screen remain at the same distance from the eyes as the center, thus improving the gaming experience. Plus, its small footprint makes it ideal for both multi-monitor setups and small desktops where there isn’t much room for large screens.

This monitor has dimensions with base included of 538.8 x 210 x 397.9mm and weighs 3.9 Kg, so it is also easy to transport and take from one place to another. Speaking of the base, it is V-shaped and unfortunately it does not have height or rotation adjustment, although it does tilt. However, the base can be disassembled and its VESA 75 anchor can be used to anchor the monitor to a mobile arm or desk stand, something very convenient to integrate it into small PC configurations.

Finally, it should be noted that the Icarus IC24VAF165 incorporates technologies to preserve visual health such as Flicker Free, which prevents flickering, and Low Blue Light, which reduces the emission of blue light that is so damaging to sight.

Price and availability

The new Newskill Icarus IC24VAF165 gaming monitor is now available in the manufacturer’s online store at a price of €219.95, something that seems quite appropriate considering its characteristics. The manufacturer has said that this model will be sold exclusively in its online store, so it is unlikely that we will see it in other stores such as Amazon or PcComponentes.
