DJI Mavic 3 Pro, the best consumer drone raises the performance of cameras

The Mavic 3 Pro is the new model of what is considered to be the best drone on the consumer market. After three versions of this 3 series, DJI has opted to improve the camera system and the results are spectacular.

The main novelty of the Mavic 3 Pro is its set of three cameras, the first consumer drone to use it. It uses the same Hasselblad L2D-20C camera with a 4/3 CMOS sensor and 24mm as the regular Magic 3 and the 1/2ā€³ with 7x optical zoom and 166mm focal length, but now adds a 1/1.3ā€³ camera with optical zoom 3x and a focal length of 70mm. This ‘medium’ telephoto lens allows you to shoot the space between the other two lenses, giving you greater speed and flexibility when framing photos or video.

With this set of cameras, the drone can capture video with resolution up to 5.1K@50fps and DCI 4K@120fps. You can also record up to 4K at 60fps and when it comes to stills, you can capture 12-bit RAW with a native dynamic range of up to 12.8 stops. The cameras of this drone support Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 and Apple ProRes 422 LT encoding, and to save the captures it mounts a 1TB SSD.

Otherwise it’s basically a Mavic 3. It has a maximum flight time (no wind) of 43 minutes (3 minutes less) and a maximum hover time (no wind) of 40 minutes. His maximum rate of climb is maintained at 6 m / s (P mode) u 8m/s (high performance ā€œSā€ mode), and a maximum descent speed of 6 m/s (P mode). Near sea level, with no wind, this drone can reach a truly impressive top flight speed of 21m/s.

It also maintains DJI’s popular ActiveTrack 5.0 technology to increase tracking capabilities, using signals from GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou satellites to improve performance. Equipped with 200 meter range omnidirectional obstacle sensors along with APAS 5.0, the Mavic 3 is capable of safer navigation through environmental obstacles. The DJI Mavic 3 uses an AirSense system to notify the user of air traffic such as helicopters and planes.

DJI RC PRO, which features its own 5.5-inch touchscreen that avoids having to use any control smartphone and runs on a DJI-customized version of Android. It features OcuSync 3.0 (1080p@60fps) image transmission technology capable of running at a truly impressive length of 15km. Internet connectivity with this controller works over Wi-Fi or a special 4G LTE dongle. This controller also has the ability to connect to other devices via Bluetooth, and has a battery life of around 3 hours before it needs a recharge.

In short: the best consumer drone, now with fewer cameras. Of course, its price is high. The Mavic 3 Pro is for sale on the DJI page from 2,099 euros. And from there up with the manufacturer’s pack and that fully equipped reaches 4,599 euros. If you’re out of budget and want to get started in the world of drones, we recommend the Mini 3 Pro as the direct successor to the DJI Mini 2 that we thoroughly reviewed and had great experience with.
