DJI has announced the launch of the Osmo Action 4, a new action camera that brings improvements in all sections over the previous version and that is clearly designed to compete with models like the GoPro Hero 11 Black.
DJI is a world reference in consumer drones, while GoPro is in action cameras. And they’ve collaborated in the past, though that’s long since over and each has intruded on the other’s space. GoPro launched its Karma drone, while DJI created its own line of cameras.

The camera has been improved inside and out. With dimensions of 70 x 44 x 33mm, it is slightly smaller than the GoPro Hero 11 Black and is also slightly lighter despite mounting a higher capacity battery with 1770mAh. , with autonomy of 2.5 hours and fast charge, 80% in 18 minutes. The Action’s waterproof rating is up to 18 meterseight more than the Hero.
The new Action has a 1/1.3-inch image sensor, with an aperture of f / 2.8 and a field of view of 155 degrees. The GoPro surpasses the DJI model in maximum video resolution, 5.3K compared to 4K (30 fps) while in still images both can take 4K photos up to 120 fps.
To say that the DJI sensor is powered to work in low light environments and has a 10-bit D-LogM color mode with greater dynamic range and the ability to work underwater. The screens are very similar; the identical front of 1.4 inches and the rear slightly higher than that of DJI with 2.27 inches. Both are tactile.
It also features Bluetooth remote control with GPS and Sports Track, while the Action 4’s magnetic quick-release design lets you quickly change its position when you need to. DJI includes a horizontal-vertical protection mount that allows you to capture lossless vertical videos in just a few seconds.
Price and availability
The DJI Osmo Action 4 is now available in some regions with an official price of $399, which in Europe will become 429 euros. It’s substantially cheaper than the $499 Hero 11 Black. Very similar in features will surely force GoPro to adjust prices.
To say that DJI, as it does in the distribution of its popular drones, sells kits with additional accessories and you can buy an ‘Adventure Pack’ that adds a horizontal-vertical protection mount to the camera, three batteries, a case, an extendable arm 1.5 meter or a Type C cable.
