Retrogaming enthusiasts and owners of an Atari 2600 console have something to rejoice about. Atari has decided to port the game Mr Run and Jump to modern consoles such as Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X, but also to the game console of the 70s.

The Atari developers had the slightly crazy idea of offering a version for the Atari 2600 of their new platform game, Mr Run and Jump. If you find the graphics of the modern version of the game a little too simplistic, the retro version of the “platformer” may put you off. For the many retrogaming enthusiasts, on the other hand, inserting a new XP cartridge into the old console will undoubtedly trigger a wave of nostalgia.
In Mr Run and Jump, you’ll have to lead your character through more than 80 screens in four-color arrays, and fight five types of enemies. Add to that an original scoring system and a good dose of difficulty, and all the ingredients of a good retro game are gathered.

The Atari 2600 version was developed in 2021 by John Mikula, and Atari executives liked it so much thatthey ordered the port of the game to modern consoles. According to Atari, Mr Run and Jump is the first official Atari 2600 cartridge released in 33 years.

Surely, this collector will only attract fans of video game history. The game should indeed cost no less than $60. As much as a new game on a next-gen console. That said, for this price, you will be entitled to a nice blister, containing a real user manual, and the Made in USA cartridge. And who knows, maybe your cartridge, if you keep it in its packaging, will increase in value and will be considered a collector’s item in a few years? Some experts claim that the prices of retro games are experiencing a real spike. Pre-orders for Mr Run and Jump will start on July 31, 2023.
