The PlayStation Showcase finally revealed one of the rumors that had been with us the longest in recent months (and almost years). Its about remake of a Metal Gear Solid, the legendary Konami saga that finally receives the refreshment that many fans have been asking for for years. But what exactly will it offer us?
The return of a masterpiece
Under the name of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterthe game will be a remake of the mythical Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from 2004, and will include the same story and environment with next generation graphics and 3D sound. The idea is to get an immersive experience of that jungle that gave us so many hours of enjoyment 20 years ago.
According to Konami, the choice of the word Delta (the green triangle) comes from the meaning “change” or “Difference” without the need to modify the structure. A description that fits with the concept of remake, and that invites us to think of a common denominator for future remakes. We’ll see.
In principle, the title chosen for this process is the third installment of Metal Gear Solid, which presented us the origin of Big Boss.
When can we play it?
The announcement does not confirm the launch of the game, but its development. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater It will arrive in the future, and at the moment they do not know how to tell us any type of related track. And everything indicates that we will leave well into 2024, since until then they intend to keep us distracted by something else.
A collection impossible to avoid
That distraction will be none other than the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1. A collection formed by the very Holy Trinity, made up of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD version) and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD version).
In addition, the mythical and original ones are included Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (those that came out for MSX and NES), so you will be able to give a complete review of the saga so as not to lose any detail. Only a few small details have been edited to avoid copyright issues, so the games will remain largely intact.
This collection will arrive in the last quarter of the year, so we could have it sometime in October or November with a bit of luck. Hence, the arrival of the remake is intuited for well into 2024, if not near 2025.
Will there be more remakes?
It would be strange for Konami not to take advantage of the jewels in its catalogue. They are taking too long. Taking into account that the Master Collection is cataloged as “Volume 1”, it is clear that there will be more of these compilations, and why not think of a Volume 2 accompanying another remake, in the same way that is happening with the presentation of MGS Delta : Snake Eater.
