EVGA exits GPU market after breaking up with Nvidia

EVGAknown above all for making cards based on Nvidia’s GeForce, has announced its exit from the GPU market. The announcement came, according to Tom’s Hardware, in an interview of the company’s CEO, Andrew Han, with YouTubers JayZTwoCents and Gamers Nexus. In addition to offering details about the decision, he has also discussed the company problems with Nvidia.

Han has claimed that, over time, Nvidia had stopped treating EVGA as a true partner, despite its track record. Apparently, Nvidia had stopped informing EVGA about new product launches, as well as withholding important information. Among the data it did not disclose were suggested wholesale prices, as well as product availability.

This means that Nvidia partners like EVGA have to discover details about the latest products that are released on their own, and also do it at the same time as the rest. Additionally, Nvidia Founders Edition cards are priced lower than their equivalents from EVGA and other partners, forcing vendors to revise their prices downward.

For now, EVGA will continue to sell cards based on older GeForce GPUs, like the RTX 3000 series. When they run out of stock, it’s over. The company has no plans to partner with Nvidia’s rivals, such as AMD or Intel. This is a difficult decision that puts the future of the company at risk, because although EVGA has been selling other computer components and accessories for some time, such as power supplies, motherboards and gaming mice, approximately 80% of its income comes from from the sale of GeForce-based GPUs.

However, when interviewers pointed out to the company’s CEO that making this decision must have been hard, Han commented that the decision was easy, and that what was difficult was working with Nvidia.

In addition to this interview, EVGA has issued a statement announcing the decision, in which in addition to confirming that they will not continue with the next generation of graphics cards, although they will continue to offer the current generation models. They have also assured that they are committed to their customers and will continue to offer, in addition to sales of the current line, the corresponding support.
