On June 7, Free announced the new version of its Freebox Delta with WiFi 6E compatibility. New subscribers could subscribe to the offer from this date and at the same price as the previous formula, but Free customers already under contract did not yet have the opportunity to benefit from the new generation Delta. Two months later, Free finally offers migration to the Freebox Delta WiFi 6E to some of its subscribers.

On their dashboard, Freebox Pop subscribers are offered to migrate to the Freebox Delta with WiFi 6E support. Freebox Delta customers, on the other hand, do not have this option available, Free favoring an upgrade from cheaper packages to its premium offer rather than a simple replacement of equipment for those who are already Delta subscribers.

Migration to the Freebox Delta WiFi 6E is not yet possible for everyone

For Pop customers, the migration costs are free in the event of a subscription taken out at least five years ago. Newer subscribers must pay the amount of 49 euros to make the switch, in addition to switching to the more expensive Delta subscription. In addition, it seems that many eligible subscribers are unable to initiate the migration procedure, reports Freebox Universeprobably due to out of stock.

As a reminder, WiFi 6E allows the use of a new frequency band, 6 GHz, in addition to 2.4 and 5 GHz. This novelty promises much less busy channels, and therefore an increase in internet connection speeds. Of course, you need compatible devices to be able to benefit from it. Very few computers or smartphones today support this standard, which is still reserved for the most recent high-end terminals.
