The Xbox Game Pass, the subscription that provides access to a catalog of video games on different types of devices, including Xbox consoles, has been a solid success. The latest news is that Game Pass has 25 million subscribers worldwide.

Inspired by the success of Microsoft, Sony has developed a similar offer for PlayStation players. In recent months, many leaks have come to mention the arrival of a similar subscription, whose internal code name is PlayStation Spartacus. Split into three separate offers, the subscription would provide access to a vast catalog of PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5 games.

Sony is about to unveil Spartacus, the direct competitor to Xbox Game Pass

According to information from our colleagues at Bloomberg, Sony is finally preparing to lift the veil on this subscription. Citing sources close to the firm’s plans, Sony would unveil Spartacus sometime next week. This is consistent with previous leaks, which expected an official presentation sometime in the spring of 2022.

The outlet claims that the biggest PlayStation video games of the moment will not be offered directly to Spartacus subscribers. “The next God of War Ragnarök, for example, is unlikely to hit the streaming platform anytime soon”, said an anonymous source interviewed by Bloomberg. Recent AAA titles, such as Spider-Man Miles Morales, should therefore be absent from the offer.

As a reminder, Sony should offer the Spartacus subscription at the starting price of 10 dollars per month (8.99 euros). A premium offer, equivalent to Game Pass Ultimate, would be marketed at a price of 16 dollars, or approximately 14 euros. We tell you more about Spartacus as soon as possible.
