During its big summer presentation, Ubisoft gave the best preview to date of the next Assassin’s Creed Mirage, through a gameplay demo. The good news is that the game marks a return to the sources of the license.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is only a few months away from release, and during the Ubisoft Forward presentation, the company unveiled a new story trailer along with a detailed gameplay video. The trailer explains how Basim became one of the Hidden Onesand shows him following their teachings and questioning what it means to follow their orders.

Another gameplay video is much more interesting, since it confirms a real return to basics for the series. Players should always feel like there is a stealthy or sneaky way to take out their targets. Basim’s arsenal includes the secret blade, a sword, a dagger, smoke bombs, darts and throwing kniveswhich can be improved in various ways.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage marks a return to basics

The presentation of the gameplay underlines the return of the fights on the roofs, of the parkour type, which had disappeared a little from the last three opuses (Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla). We can therefore see Basim evolve on different structures to get away, while using tools such as a dart and a smoke bomb to get rid of enemies as cleanly as possible. It also has a scout bird named Enkidu.

The game marks the return of leaps of faith, and chain assassinations. Everything leads us to believe that the fans of the first hour will appreciate this new opus, which is finally centered on stealth.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in ninth-century Baghdad, and the story introduces us to Basim decades before we meet him in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Haunted by nightmares of a mysterious djinn, Basim joins the Hidden Ones and begins his new life as a recruit. It’s here first step on his long journey to becoming a master assassin. As a reminder, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC on October 12.
