Google won’t delete inactive company and teacher accounts

It was recently confirmed that Google was going to start taking action against inactive accounts, and that it would start deleting them. from the month of December of this year. This information is official and fully confirmed, but it has generated any doubts that we want to solve in this article.

First of all, it must be taken into account that Google only gives the inactive account qualifier to those that have more than two years without being used, and that the company understands as any use of the same in which it is directly involved, even in the simplest cases. Thus, for example, it would be enough to write or read an email in Gmail, watch a YouTube video with our account or identify ourselves with it. in a third-party application or service.

If we have an inactive Gmail account it will suffice to use it to read an email for it to be considered active again. In the event that said account remains inactive, Google could delete it completely as of December 2023, although before proceeding to do so, it will send notices to the accounts to alert their holders.

In the event that an account is deleted, not only will it disappear, but also all its content and that of the applications associated with it, such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, Calendar, YouTube, and Google Photos. It goes without saying that this implies that we can lose a lot of things if we have valuable accounts that are inactive.

Fortunately, inactive company and educational accounts will not be affected, which means that this measure will only be applied to those accounts that are considered personal. It is important to keep this distinction in mind, because only individual accounts will be subject to this possible deletion due to inactivity.
