There are not many films that debuted during 2020, even less those that deserve to be remembered. Among these, however, there seems to be the apocalyptic film with protagonists Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, who seems to have convinced enough to allow the arrival of Greenland 2, already renamed Greenland: Migration.
Greenland 2 is coming
As reported by Deadline, the Greenland sequel will see the return of Butler and Baccarin as John and Allison Garrity who, after surviving a catastrophic event that devastated the planet, have lived for years in a bunker in Greenland. Now the family will have to look for a new home in a profoundly changed Europe, with frozen lands dominating the landscape.
The first film, released in Italian cinemas on October 1, 2020, raised just over $ 52 million at the global box office (the budget used for its making was $ 35 million). Figures certainly not noteworthy for a similar title but which, after all, have also turned out to be one of the biggest takings of last year.
The entire project, produced by Butler himself together with Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Brendon Boyea, will come to life in the course of 2022, when shooting on the new film will begin.
