Honor Magic Vs: the lightest large format foldable smartphone in the world arrives on November 23

Honor is preparing to launch a new generation of foldable smartphone, the Magic V. Although it is not a revolution compared to the previous model, it should nevertheless present some welcome improvements, especially in terms of its weight.

Honor Magic Vs

Earlier this year, Honor entered the foldable smartphone market with the Magic V, a device with a very interesting technical sheet. The Chinese manufacturer has announced on social networks that it will renew the series with a new device from November 23rd. It will therefore arrive at the same time as the Honor Magic 5, Magic 5 Pro and Magic 5 Ultimate flagship smartphones.

It will not really be a brand new generation, but a fairly light evolution with few changes. We will find for example a new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip that will replace the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but it is especially at the level of the design that Honor has made efforts. After discovering the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, the thinnest folding smartphone in the world, the new Magic Vs should become the lightest folding device on the market.

The Honor Magic Vs will weigh less than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4

While the Honor Magic V weighed no less than 288 grams on the scale, its successor should be much lighter. Many leakers including Ice Universe are already announcing that the Magic Vs will become the lightest foldable smartphone, indicating that Honor has thoroughly reviewed the materials used.

Knowing that a Galaxy Z Fold 4 weighs 263 grams and a Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 only 262 grams, we can hope that the Honor Magic Vs does not exceed 260 grams. This would be a major change for foldable devices, as these are getting closer and closer to the weight of traditional smartphones.

Ice Universe, however, already announces that Oppo is preparing to counterattack quickly with an even lighter smartphone from December: the Find N2. It will directly succeed the Oppo Find N that we were able to take in hand at the beginning of the year. The latter would also bet on a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, rather than adopting the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which will arrive next week.
