Intel announces price and availability of its Arc A770 graphics card

The price of the Intel Arc A770 it will be quite competitiveaccording to the official announcement that comes to us from the Intel Innovation event where the chip giant has also announced its new generation of Raptor Lake-S processors for desktop computers.

Intel Arc A770 will be the first graphics card for desktop computers to hit the market under the new generation that the company has developed under the direction of Raja Koduri and which marks its return to this market 20 years later. And it certainly is important. Beyond the fact that it arrives late and even its level of performance and price, the important thing here is that it raises an alternative to break the duopoly of NVIDIA and AMD.

Will it be competitive in benefits? To put the card level, Intel claims that it is faster than an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti and an AMD RX 6700 XT, while “delivers 65% higher peak performance than the competition in ray tracing” thanks to the dedicated hardware that it includes to process the ray tracing through the APIs DirectX Raytracing 1.0, DirectX Raytracing 1.1 and Vulkan RayTracing and its asynchronous process.

Of course, it includes the latest technologies and features like XeSS supersampling technology that aims to rival NVIDIA’s DLSS. We will have to wait for the independent tests to assess its true performance, but if you want to catch up on the technical section, be sure to check out our latest Intel graphics special.

Intel Arc A770, specifications, versions and price

There are no surprises. The main characteristics of this card were already known and are maintained for the launch.

  • Graphic core: ACM-G10.
  • 32 Xe cores.
  • 4,096 shaders.
  • Maximum GPU frequency at 2,100 MHz.
  • 512 XMX arrays.
  • 32 RTU cores.
  • 256-bit memory bus.
  • 8-16 GB of GDDR6 (560 GB/s of bandwidth).
  • TBP: 225 watts. They need 2 PCIe 6 and 8 pins for power supply.

Intel will market the Arc A770 in two versions with 8 and 16 Gbytes of dedicated memory. It will be available from October 12 for a base price of $329.

A highly competitive price for a mid-range graphics card and more if some previous analyzes are confirmed that place the level of the card between an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti and an RTX 3070. Of course, we will have to wait for higher models to see if Intel will be able to compete in the high range. That said, for me, the most interesting thing is that a powerful new player enters the graphics hardware market.
