iPhone 15: possible specifications, release date, price and everything we know

The iPhone 15 will be Apple’s next flagship smartphone. Its release is still a few months away, but the trickle of information that we have been seeing in recent weeks has been constant and this has meant that we have more and more information of interest. This information is, in general, quite interesting.

However, not all the information that has been appearing fits equally well or makes the same sense, and for this reason we wanted to shape this article, where We have compiled for you the most interesting and credible leaks and rumorswhich we have seen about the iPhone 15.

It is important that you keep in mind that there is still nothing confirmed, and that therefore some of the things that we are going to tell you about below may change in whole or in part, or that are not fulfilled.

However, I am convinced that practically everything I am going to tell you will end up being fulfilled “as is”, that is, without major changes. I only have doubts about the removal of the physical volume up and down buttonsa subject that seems to me like too radical a change for the average user, although this does not mean that it will be “impossible”.

With that said, let’s get down to business. make yourself comfortablethat we have many interesting things to tell you about the expected iPhone 15.

iPhone 15 models, design and build quality: Dynamic Island for everyone

Everything seems to indicate that Apple will maintain the current division into four different modelsand that the changes that the apple firm will introduce in the iPhone 15 will be more marked than we originally imagined. The filtering of a series of mockups, which normally go to the manufacturers of covers and which therefore have high credibility, points in that direction.

The four leaked mockups represent the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Max, and also the Pro and Pro Max versions. At the design level the flat frame and the full screen front will remain, as well as the square island with rounded corners, but this time Apple will use the Dynamic Island in all models, reduce the edges of the screen a little more and use a slightly curved finish on the sides, both on the front and on the back. the rear. Those mockups also reflect a change to the camera island, which will be slightly larger.

As you may have imagined, these changes make the models of the iPhone 15 that were recently leaked they don’t fit into the equivalent iPhone 14 cases, although oddly enough the iPhone 15 Plus is the exception to the rule. It’s still rumored that Apple will remove the physical volume up and down buttons, information we can’t confirm because those mockups come with clear markings dedicated to the position of the side buttons.

As for the build quality, we do not expect changes compared to the current generation, which means that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be made in aluminum and glassand that the Pro and Pro Max models will use a steel frame and the classic double layer of glass. We can consider both endings as “premium”.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will maintain the screen size of 6.1 and 6.7 inchs, respectively, and the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will also have 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. The first two models will differ from the second for things as important as the SoC and the configuration of the camerasbut as we have already said before all of them will use the Dynamic Island, so we will finally say goodbye to the trapezoidal notch.

Possible specifications of all versions

This is, without a doubt, one of the most complicated sections because it is precisely where the information is most scarce. Nevertheless, we have a few loose ends that we can tie up to form a fairly complete estimate and interesting, and also reliable. Remember that Apple has been differentiating the standard models from the Pro by the SoC, and that due to this the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus could reuse the Apple A16 SoC, which was exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

All versions will use the USB Type-C connector to comply with the regulations of the European Union, which means that we are facing the end of the Lightning connector. This is good news, but this has generated a lot of fuss because it is said that Apple could use a specific PCB on your USB Type-C cables to limit the functions if we use compatible cables. If this is confirmed, we would be forced to use original cables or accept important limitations.

  • 128 GB of storage capacity in its base version.
  • Triple rear camera, with a 48 MP main lens, wide angle and periscope telephoto lens.
  • iOS 17 as operating system

What most attracts our attention is the difference in SoC level that there will be between the standard models and the Pro and Pro Max versions, although it should not surprise us since, as we have mentioned before, this is something that we already saw in the previous generation.

The Apple A17 SoC will be a chip more powerful both at the CPU and GPU leveland it will also be more efficient. It will be built on TSMC’s 3nm node, while the Apple A16 SoC comes built on TSMC’s 4nm node. I don’t expect a big leap in terms of power, but making a global assessment under the concept of performance per watt consumed, I think that the evolution is going to be quite marked.

apple a17 chip

Another important change would be the use of LPDDR5 memory in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, and the increase from 6 GB to 8 GB of RAM on Pro and Pro Max models. We also expect improvements to the cameras on all models, and a periscope-type telephoto lens on the Pro Max model.

We do not yet have concrete information about the possible novelties that Apple could include in the screens of these new terminals, beyond that curved finish and the inclusion of the Dynamic Island in the standard and Plus models, although I am convinced that, except for surprise , The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will once again offer a 60 Hz refresh rate. Information about the battery has not yet emerged either, but in this sense we expect few changes compared to the current generation.

Release date and possible price

Apple will introduce the new iPhone 15 sometime in September of this year. We do not have an exact date, but it is most likely that said presentation will take place in the first half of said month, that is between September 1 and 15. The iPhone 14 was presented on September 7, so this date serves as a reference to get an idea of the strategy that Apple could follow with its next terminals.

It is important that you keep in mind that the presentation date and the release date are not the same when we talk about the iPhone. Returning to the previous example, the iPhone 14 was presented on September 7 but was not available until September 16. I think it’s very likely that this will be repeated with the iPhone 15, and that even if it is presented in the first or second week of September, it will not really be available until a week after its presentation, at least.

Regarding the price, the truth is that I have many doubts. Apple did not raise the price of the iPhone 14 in the United States, but in Spain it did We ended up seeing a notable increase in prices that, in theory, was a direct consequence of the parity (at that time) between the dollar and the euro, and also of the increase in costs that the apple company had to face.

Over time the euro has recovered positions against the dollar, And it is only a matter of time until the waters return to normal, but the prices of the iPhone 14 are still very high in all its versions. This, coupled with the fact that Apple is playing elsewhere as it believes that there is a place in the market for increasingly expensive smartphones, makes me think that the iPhone 15 will experience another price increase.

This price may only apply to some specific markets, but it is very likely that it will happen and that Spain is one of the affected countries. If confirmed, I would bet on an approximate increase of between 50 and 100 euros. This is how the prices could be of the new terminals of the apple company after that price increase:

  • 128 GB iPhone 15: 1,059 euros.
  • iPhone 15 Plus of 128 GB: 1,209 euros.
  • iPhone 15 Pro of 128 GB: 1,419 euros.
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max of 128 GB: 1,569 euros.

apple too could keep the prices of the iPhone 14something that without a doubt would be the most beneficial for the consumer, although taking into account the changes that it is going to introduce in its new generation of smartphones, the truth is that I have not finished seeing it, and I am more inclined to think of a price increase.
