Aya Neo 2 will be the new portable console from the Chinese specialist, the most powerful on the market with a processor AMD Ryzen 7 6800U and RDNA 2 graphics.
Valve’s Steam Deck has been a shock to a segment of portable gaming machines that, like other electronic products such as compact cameras, went into a sharp decline in sales as the performance and versatility of smartphones increased and users they bet on their versatility also to play in mobility.
The AYA company is a reference in specialized machines and has just announced new features for this year such as a Neo Slide with a sliding physical keyboard and the Neo 2 that we are dealing with.
Aya Neo 2 bets on performance
If the Steam Deck fits a hardware base based on an AMD ZEN 3 SoC, Aya bets on raising the level to a ZEN 3 “Rembrandt” as the Ryzen 7 6800U. It is a high-performance processor and more for this type of machine with 8 cores and 16 threads that can work with frequencies of up to 4.7 GHz.
It also improves the power of the graphic section with an RDNA2 chip with 12 computing units (50% more than that of the Steam Deck) and increased frequencies up to 2.2 GHz. The RAM memory, LPDDR5-6400, will also be faster, it will have with PCIe 4.0 storage, fingerprint reader and premiere of the new USB4 port.
AYA says that the result will be a portable console that will be able to handle any game, including AAAas well as regular PC workloads under the Windows 11 operating system that it will pre-install.
The manufacturer has not revealed other main features such as screen size and resolution, or battery capacity and autonomy. A key point has not advanced either: its price, although do not expect that of the Steam Deck. If Valve’s machine has a base price of $399, Aya’s consoles tend to cost more than double.
Aya will update its entire line of portable machines starting with the Neo Slide which will be available this summer. The Neo Air and Neo 2 will be available this fall. It looks very good as you will see in the images, but if you are interested, prepare a budget that will be close to the $1,000 barrier.
