Is GPT-5 real? Everything we know about the future of Artificial Intelligence

Throughout 2022, there were many Artificial Intelligence projects and applications that, after years of testing, finally reached the public and most of them completely free of charge. Both OpenAI and Bing Chat, the two AI platforms that allow us to generate texts based on a description, are based on GPT-4, a version that launched a few weeks ago. When will the GPT-5 version?

The first version of the GPT, generative language predictive model acronym, created by OpenAI was released in the year 2018. A year later, GTP-2 was released. The following year, in 2020, OpenAI introduced GPT-4. Two more years had to pass, until 2022, when GPT-3.5 was released. A few weeks ago, at the beginning of 2023, the latest version, GPT-4, was officially presented, a version that far exceeds the functionalities that Until now offers us this model of generative language.

Unlike previous versions, GPT-4 is capable to analyze texts and create summaries, translate full texts, answer questions automatically, extract the most important parts of a document, create graphics from text and much more. Bing Chat, from Microsoft, is already working on implementing the functions that have come from GPT-4 so that Office is practically an essential tool in any field, both private and business.

When will GPT-5 be released?

If we take into account that the evolution of GPT has gone practically year by version (except 2021), the logical thing would be to assume that by 2024, the new version of GPT. While some rumors point out that the launch would already be scheduled for early next year, other sources point out that OpenAI is taking it very calmly.

In fact, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, before a question from the public, at an event held at MIT, about the open face that some people had published a few weeks ago in which they requested that the evolution of this technology be temporarily stopped. , stated that they are not currently training the new version and that, for the moment, the development of GPT-5 is stopped.

Most likely, OpenAI is currently working in the preliminary phase to train the new version, that is, in the data collection phase for training, data that is being a problem for some countries.

In recent weeks, we have seen how in many countries they are studying the possibility of prohibiting the use of ChatGPT since everything seems to indicate that the texts that have been used to train this AI are protected by copyright, a problem to which the most of the AIs are facing off.

What is clear is that OpenAI cannot rest on its laurels as Google continues to work on Bardthe competition from ChatGPT and Bing Chat that shouldn’t take long to officially see the light of day.
