It’s called NUC X15, but it’s actually a laptop with Intel Arc graphics

Intel has been going through a major internal cleanup process for some time. The company has been shedding its most ruinous divisions. They are divisions in which they have invested a lot of money but have hardly generated any income.

Recently, Intel has finished ditching its SSD division, which never worked. Also, recently, they have shelved their persistent memory division that they wanted to do away with RAM.

A surprise NUC laptop appears

Schenker and XMG they have presented laptops NUC X15 It will be distributed by Bestware retailers. The interesting thing is that this laptop has not been marked as a product of these companies. The NUC X15 would be a reference Design, similar to the famous Mini PCs that Intel has been designing.

This laptop is based entirely on Intel components. Specifically, use the Core i7-12700H processor 12-core and the Arc A730M graphics with 12 GB of VRAM memory. An interesting proposal that has surprised us.

You can integrate this computer up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM @ 4,800 MHz. Not much information is given about storage, but one of the models has a 500GB Samsung 980 SSD.

This NUC X15 laptop uses a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, this very well. It offers us 90% sRGB color coverage and a brightness of 300 nits. In addition, this laptop has a 2.5 GbE Ethernet port and support for WiFi 6.

Does this laptop have a 62Wh battery with different load profiles to improve its useful life. Unfortunately, autonomy is not exactly specified, although it would surely be in multimedia and not in gaming, as is normal.

It has a Windows Hello compatible camera, a Microsoft Precision compatible glass touch panel and a single zone RGB keyboard that we can customize.

As can be seen in the specifications, it has dimensions of 358.26 x 235 x 22.2mm and weighs only 2kg. It is a relatively light and compact gaming laptop that offers good performance.

Price and availability

It is not currently for sale yet, although it is listed at the Bestware retail store. Here is a model with 16 GB DDR5 @ 4800 MHz and a 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD. This laptop costs 999 euros, although it now has a 100-euro discount, in case we want to reserve it.

The discounted price ends on September 30, so predictably, that will be the laptop’s launch date. This point is not very clear either, since it could be that it is launched a little earlier.

The truth is that, taking into account the characteristics, this Intel NUC X15 seems a bit expensive to us. We can find laptops with similar (and better) features for less than that price today. It gives the feeling that it is a product that has been in development for some time and will be launched so as not to lose the money from the investment.
