Linda Yaccarino is already the new CEO of Twitter

Twitter has become a soap operaand currently it is still not clear if Linda Yaccarino will become a new permanent protagonist of the same or if, on the contrary, we are facing a secondary character, who can either become recurring, or gains some prominence during a season, to then disappear once the character is no longer important to the main plot of the story.

As you will surely remember, on May 12 we started the day with the leak that Linda Yaccarino could be chosen for the role of CEO of the social network, news that was confirmed only a few hours later. In this way, a subplot of the story that had opened months before began to close, when Elon Musk decided to submit to a public vote whether or not he should remain in the role of CEO of Twitter, a vote that was easily settled with a result. predictable, and that encouraged the billionaire to step aside.

However, according to information published in mid-February of this year, Musk initially intended to stay on as CEO until the end of this year, something that fit with the attitude that he seemed to be showing in this regard, and that invited one to think that he did not have the slightest desire to take off his stripes, although leaving office does not detract from the absolute power that he has, being the owner unique of the little bird’s social network. We can imagine that this “advance” has been due to the multiple pressures of attention that he has received from other of his companies.

Although the announcement of the appointment came a few weeks ago, we were still waiting for it to take effect, which Musk claimed would take about six weeks. However, the wait has been shorter because, as she herself has confirmed through a tweet, Linda Yaccarino has already assumed the role of CEO at Twitter. Let’s remember that, in order to accept the position, Jaccarino had to resign from his previous job, as head of publicity at NBCUniversal Media, a company of which he was a part for more than eleven and a half years.

Let’s remember that, with Linda Yaccarino at the head of Twitter, Elon Musk intends to focus on the areas of product, technology and systems, maintaining for this purpose the roles of executive president and chief technology officer (CTO). The new CEO, for her part, will undoubtedly focus a good part of her efforts on growing advertising billing and, hopefully, also on returning Twitter’s relations with institutions such as the European Commission to normal.
