When here in Spain we are already going to forget about the happy mask even indoors, in some Asian countries they are having confinements again due to a new wave of the variant omicron of COVID-19.

So much so that many Chinese factories have had to stop its production as their workers are confined at home. And some of them are assemblers of Apple devices. So it doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to discover that many orders for products like MacBook Pros are going to be delayed by days, even weeks.

We live in bad times for the global electronics industry. If we have already dragged on for many months the lack of stock of electronic products due to the shortage of chips, now we will have to add the paralysis of many Asian factories due to the new lockdowns by the new wave of COVID-19 that is hitting China and much of the Asian continent.

And one of the first Apple devices to notice this industrial break is the macbook pro. Some high-end MacBook delivery times are currently leaving in the middle of June. And those of the 14-inch MacBook Pro that were for the end of May, will also be delayed until June.

The Chinese government is being very strict with its anti-pandemic regulations with the new outbreak of the Omicron variant that is resurfacing these weeks in Asia, applying new confinements to the population without hesitation.

This has meant that more than 30 Taiwanese companies, including the laptop manufacturer Apple Quanta Computer Inc.., have had to stop their production in China due to the confinement of their workers. This supplier has had to temporarily close its Shanghai plant.

At the moment the delay in delivery times only affects macbook pro. The rest of the range of Macs, iPhones and iPads is not being affected, mainly thanks to good levels of finished product stock, and the diversification of its assemblers between different countries.
