Bad news for all those anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film, Furiosa, whose release date has been postponed by almost a year.
Mad Max: Furiosa changes release date in theaters
With filming now underway (it will be the biggest film ever shot in Australia), the new project directed by George Miller, and this time focusing on the character played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, it was due to arrive in theaters on June 23, 2023. Now, however, the release date of the film has slipped by almost a year, having been moved to May 24, 2024.
The reasons that led the production to the decision to postpone the film to such a distant date have not been disclosed but, this time, it does not seem that the pandemic is at the center of the problem (if we are talking about a problem for this reason) change of date).
George Miller will direct, co-write and produce Furiosa alongside his longtime production partner Doug Mitchell. The film will be produced by Miller’s Australian production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell, along with Warner Bros Pictures.
Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Glass) will take the place of Charlize Theron as the young Furiosa and, she, will also join the cast of the film Chris Hemsworth (Thor) And Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman).
