Trailer and plot of The House, Netflix’s stop motion film

The stories told in The House were directed by the Belgian couple Emma de Swaef And Marc Roels, by the winner of the BAFTA award Paloma Baeza and the director Niki Lindroth von Bahr; so the conditions for seeing something good on the screen are all there.

The first story is set in the 1800s, when poor Raymond meets a mysterious benefactor who promises to restore him and his family to their former state. The family soon learns that desires may not always take you where you expect.

The second story is instead set in the present day, when a real estate developer tries to make a quick sale after a renovation. However, some creepy unexpected visitors have other plans and become the catalyst for a more personal transformation.

The third and final story is set in the near future, when the house survives a vastly changed landscape. Here we meet Rosa, a young landlady determined to stay in her beloved dilapidated mansion to restore it to its former glory. But Rosa’s unrealistic vision has blinded her to the inevitable change that is coming and to what matters most.
