Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Targets PlayStation 5 for September 2023

Insomniac is currently developing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2the sequel to the title starring the wall-crawler that was released on PlayStation 4 in 2018, on PlayStation 5 in 2020 and on PC in August 2022. If Sony continues with its usual plans, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will appear first as one of the great titles of PlayStation 5 for this year, while the port for PC (Windows) could appear, at the earliest, a year later.

Seeing the good reception that Marvel’s Spider-Man had at the time, the expectations around the sequel are very high. About the release date, the version for PlayStation 5 aims to be released in September 2023 according to what actor Tony Todd has dropped, who gives voice to Venom, one of the most iconic villains in the Spiderman universe.

Possibly the name of Tony Todd will sound familiar to more than one, and it is that he is the actor who has played Candyman in the four films of the horror saga, with three that came to light in the 90s of the last century and with one that was released in the year 2021. Being more specific, Todd has said the following through his account Twitter: “It seems like September! There will be massive publicity in August. The commercials will start appearing in August I am told. Hold on to your… and hold your breath! it will be necessary”.

Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Looking at the tone of the message, it doesn’t seem like it’s an accidental leak, but rather that Insomniac seems to be clear that it can launch Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the mentioned date. On the other hand, using the voice of Venom and an actor who embodies Candyman can be a good marketing strategy.

More details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will likely be revealed around the time of E3. For the rest, surely Insomniac is feeling the pressure of having to do it right, since the first game not only received good reviews from the specialized press, but sold more than 33 million copieswhich betrayed a resounding commercial success to which the PlayStation 4 packages that brought the game will surely have contributed.
