Microsoft Teams free in classic version will cease to exist

The Redmond giant has confirmed that the free classic version of Microsoft Teams will no longer be available as of April 12 of this yearand in his official blog he has given all the details that we must take into account if we still use this version of his well-known collaborative work application.

As we can read in the information that Microsoft has left in its article, and that our MuyComputer Pro colleagues have also told us, the best option we have to continue using this platform and maintain access to all our content, including chats and teams of meetings is upgrade to a Microsoft Teams Essentials subscriptiona modality that offers:

  • Unlimited group meetings up to 30 hours long.
  • Up to 300 participants in each meeting.
  • 10 GB of cloud storage for each user.

The price of this modality is 3.40 euros per month without VAT. Another option would be upgrade to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, a much more complete solution that allows us to access a multitude of applications for the web that will improve our productivity, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, and that increases the storage capacity per user to 1 TB. Its price is 5.10 euros per user per month.

However, this does not mean that Microsoft Teams will not continue to have a free modality. The Redmond Giant will continue to offer a free versionbut this requires a separate registration, it will force us to make a manual transfer of all our data and files so as not to lose them and it will limit us to meetings of up to 60 minutes, a maximum of 100 participants per meeting and 5 GB of cloud storage .
