Moments 3 is coming to Windows 11 in May

It is becoming increasingly apparent that with Windows 11, Microsoft intends to make major changes to the way updates to the operating system are handled. After a few years, with Windows 10 trying to keep up with two major annual updates, it became clear that there wasn’t enough time to test them thoroughly before releasing them, resulting in some of them, like Windows 10 2004, were a huge headache for both Microsoft and its users.

The first approach in this regard was to maintain two annual updates, but for one to be smaller, reserving the big changes for the other. This is how we saw it in 2021 with Windows 10 21H1 and 21H2, and everything indicated that this model was going to be maintained, at least in the short and medium term, with Windows 11. However, while waiting to confirm if it really will be like that, Microsoft He took a surprise out of his pocket a few months ago, which represents a substantial change from what we expected.

I am referring, of course, to the Moments, which we are talking about here and which, in short, are minor updates (although in some cases with highly anticipated news) that are published independently of the H1 and H2 performances. As you will remember, Microsoft started the rollout of Windows 11 22H2 at the end of September, but some of the news that we expected in this update did not come with it, they did with the publication of Moments 1, which came to light about a month later. By the end of october.

Moments 3 is coming to Windows 11 in May

Regarding Moments 2, not much is known yet, despite the fact that we could already see it in action here, and it is speculated that its arrival in Windows 11 will take place next March. And now, as we can read in MSPowerUser, Microsoft is already working on Moments 3 for Windows 11, which will reach users in Mayjust two months after the planned date for Moments 2.

This is very interesting since, if you confirm these dates, and the sources are reliable, perhaps next year we will not have a spring update of Windows 11, since the time range of March and May, when the following Moments would be published, will be overlaps with the dates on which we might expect such an update.

On the other hand, the time distance (waiting to confirm the dates) is somewhat striking, since five months will pass between Moments 1 and Moments 2, while we will only have to wait two between Moments 2 and Moments 3. Thus, even working with Due to the timeframes required in this type of process, which are quite long, it seems that this new model will really provide much more dynamism to the arrival of new features and innovations in Windows 11, something that, at least a priori, and as long as they manage to cope better the problem of the bugs in them, something in which they are still stumbling as we have seen today, it can be an interesting improvement for the operating system.
