Motorola launches Moto KeySafe, a specific security chip that protects the most confidential data

Motorola wants to show that the security of its devices is going to be one of its great hallmarks. To this end, the company wanted to value today “Moto KeySafe” a new specific security processor that executes processes more securely and better protects confidential information and data.

Being a physically isolated processor, Moto KeySafe helps prevent attacks on the device’s main processor. Another of its ways of providing this protection is by having its own independent memory location, where sThe most important digital keys are stored.

In addition, the firmware running on this processor has additional protection against advanced attacks such as physical attacks or side channel attacks.

According to Lenovo, “Moto KeySafe is like having a safe hidden inside a home or office. All Motorola devices with ThinkShield mobile security are reinforced with a higher level of protection, but by incorporating Moto KeySafe, they add an extra layer of protection against advanced attacks.”

The current implementation of Moto KeySafe is based on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform Secure Processing Unit and meets Android security requirements for Strongbox Keymaster.

Additional layers of authentication

With Moto KeySafe, sensitive processes are given additional layers of advanced authentication; An example of a sensitive process is device lock using a PIN or password and file encryption, which requires the device to store digital keys that are verified each time the process is executed.

Now, with Moto KeySafe, these digital keys are stored in a separate place with additional authentication to access them, known as a “hardware abstraction layer master key.”

Motorola devices with Moto KeySafe are ready to work with services like digital car and house keys, digital passports, driver’s licenses and advanced payment solutions that require uncompromised levels of security. With the implementation of Moto KeySafe, developers of these new solutions are able to take advantage of the security-specific processor to offer users peace of mind that their most valuable resources are being protected by a Motorola device. Moto KeySafe is available on select Moto devices including Motorola edge 30 ultra and Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola
