Nokia is changing its logo! For the first time in sixty years, the Finnish brand drastically changes its visual identity. A way to make the world understand its new objectives.

The old Nokia logo, everyone knows it. Inseparable from the telephone market for almost fifteen years, it is simple, clear: a simple white NOKIA written on a blue background. But in 2023, change of course with a more colorful logo and letters with an even more streamlined design.

Nokia, a new logo for a new life

Nokia insolently dominated the telephone market in the 2000s. However, the brand (then owned by Microsoft) missed the turn of smartphones. It thus lost its leading position in 2013 to Samsung and was sold by Microsoft in 2016. If Nokia smartphones are still released today via HMD, the brand has refocused on B2C. A redirection that was to be accompanied by this new identity, according to Pekka Lundmark, the CEO of the brand:

“It (the old logo) was dedicated to telephony and today we are a technology company dedicated to business. »

In short, Nokia clearly wants to focus on the business world and stay away from the consumer market. However, it will still be possible to find Nokia smartphones in the future. HMD still operates the brand and two new products were even announced at the MWC: the Nokia C22 and C32, entry-level Android terminals. A way to capitalize on a brand known and familiar to the public. However, it is not yet known whether future Nokia smartphones will adopt the new logo or not. We may well have two Nokias cohabiting within the next few years.

The old Nokia logo dated back to 1965. If adjustments have been made over the years, it has remained essentially the same… until today.
