Phil Spencer talks about the future Xbox Series X and Series S with improved hardware

We have been talking for some time about the possible launch of Xbox Series X Next and Xbox Series S Next, two consoles that would be a revision of the current models, and that would have important improvements at the hardware level. We still did not have official information about it, but this has changed thanks to the latest statements made by Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division at Microsoft.

In a recent interview, the executive was asked about the possibility that Microsoft release, sooner or later, a revision with better hardware of both consolesand this is what Spencer replied:

“Right now, we’re pretty happy with the hardware we have. We didn’t decide to start developing a bunch of games under NFT or blockchain just because it got a certain amount of popularity. I just want to make sure that games continue to be guided by the experience that the player feels, and nothing else.”

If we read between the lines, what Spencer means is that still doesn’t see the need to launch a review with improved hardware from Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but obviously it is something that he does not rule out because, as he says at the end, the important thing is the experience that reaches the user. In this case, if said experience is no longer optimal because the performance of said consoles becomes insufficient Yes, it will be necessary to launch more powerful versions.

On the other hand, it must be taken into account that in this also It will influence what Sony decides to do with the rumored PS5 Pro, a console that according to the most recent and reliable information that we have seen could hit the market at the end of next year, and that would be priced between 499 and 599 euros. If said console reaches the market, it is clear that Microsoft will have to make a move and launch an Xbox Series X Next with more powerful hardware to deal with it.

I’m not so sure that Microsoft will also release a version of Xbox Series S with more powerful hardware, but it is something that we cannot completely rule out at the moment, so we just put it in the list of “possible things”. I personally believe that It would be interesting, especially seeing how well Xbox Series S has performed despite its modest configuration, but in the end it is Microsoft that has the last word.
