Pixel 7: Google improves the quality of phone calls with an update

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro were released a few days ago, but the two smartphones did not directly arrive with all the new features promised by Google. An update has just added one: Clear Calling.

During the official presentation of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro a few days ago, Google also lifted the veil on Clear Calling, a feature that would be exclusive to smartphones. For those who have not seen the conference, Clear Calling uses the same background noise cancellation technology found in the Pixel Buds Pro as well as a machine learning algorithm for filter out the background noise near you and also enhance the voices of the person on the other line.

With this feature, Google therefore promises that the quality of telephone calls will be drastically improved, especially if you or your interlocutor are in a very noisy place. Only a few days after the release of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, Google has finally rolled out a new update that brings the feature to both smartphones.

Google is rolling out a feature-packed update for its Pixels

Google yesterday released the third Android 13 QPR1 Beta update for Pixel devices. According to the official changelog, the update mainly includes bug fixes, but also Clear Calling functionality for Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Once the update is installed, the feature appears in the sound and vibration settings on the devices, and it seems to work as expected. The QPR1 Beta 3 update also appears to have added a “Voice over 5G” feature.which will also improve call quality when connected to your 5G mobile network.

In addition to Clear Calling, this update comes with other new features, including a new option that can automatically enable Battery Share. As a reminder, Battery Share is a feature that allows you to wirelessly charge other devices when placed on the back of a compatible Pixel. Previously, you had to manually turn the feature on or off, but now your Pixel can automatically turn on reverse wireless charging.
