Poco’s New Smartphones Have Important But Unremarkable Improvements

All those who follow the changes in the Chinese smartphone market may remember that the Poco brand was once the budget division of Xiaomi. From the moment the latter decided to spin off the former, Poco has been extremely solid on its feet and expanding the range of affordable phones that the company is extremely active in offering to its consumers. And yesterday, as part of the annual Mobile World Congress, the company decided to showcase the new X4 Pro 5G flagship, as well as the non-5G version of the M4 Pro. And if we talk about the X4 Pro 5G in the first place, then the smartphone is equipped with a 6.67-inch display with FHD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as a backlight capable of delivering up to 700 nits of brightness.

Poco, the brand claims, hopes to attract new customers with the promise of a 108-megapixel f/1.9 main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. Up front, meanwhile, is a 16-megapixel f/1.4 front-facing camera, which, while not bad, doesn’t revolutionize anything. However, if you look under the hood, then inside the smartphone is a “premium-middle” processor, namely the Snapdragon 695 5G, working in tandem with 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage, or with 8 and 256 gigabytes of the corresponding memory in a more advanced configuration.

Support for additional storage of 1 terabyte is offered, as well as the 67 W charger that is included in the package – extremely useful additions. And yes, the built-in 5,000mAh battery supports 67W fast charging. The built-in fingerprint sensor this time is located on the side button, and for all music lovers, it will be an extremely pleasant moment that the smartphone is also certified as reproducing high-resolution audio. And yes, it also still comes with a rare 3.5mm headphone jack these days.

And if you’re looking for something a little less hard on your wallet, Poco is also introducing a non-5G version of its M4 Pro. It has a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 64MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging support. The device is based on the MediaTek Helio G96 processor, which comes with 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of storage, or 8 gigabytes of memory of the first type and 256 gigabytes of the second.
