Re: cycle of the Penguindrum, the trailer of the first anime film of the new trilogy is online

The new trailer for Re: cycle of the Penguindrum, the first feature film in the new trilogy based on the anime series Mawaru Penguindrum.

The promotional video was released by the Twitter account of Kunihiko Ikuhara (The Revolution of Utena, Sailor Moon), the director of the original anime, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the series.

The anime’s official key visual has also been released, revealing the Japanese release date set for April 28, 2002.

The twins Kanba and Shōma Takakura and their beloved and fragile little sister Himari are three brothers who live alone in a bizarre wooden and tin shack.

One day they go to visit the aquarium and Shōma buys a penguin-shaped hat as a souvenir in Himari, but shortly after she collapses and dies.

At the morgue, however, Himari revives; the miracle is accomplished by the hat, possessed by an alien entity named Nadine who makes a pact with the two brothers: the entity will be able to continue the life of Himari if in exchange the two boys manage to find the Penguin Drum, a mysterious and unspecified object.

To help them search, Nadine joins them with a trio of bizarre handyman penguins, invisible to anyone but their three brothers.

With director Kunihiko Ikuhara, the screenwriter returns from the original anime series Takayo Ikami, the artistic director Chieko Nakamura by Studio Cocolo, the character designer Terumi Nishii, the composer Yukari Hashimoto,, ‘icon designer Wataru Osakabe, the sound director Yō Yamada together with the sound effects artist Tomokazu Mitsui.
