To finish, we will go to the Installation tab, where we will see two DNS on the right side (such as 45.90.11.163 and 45.90.11.164), we will write them down so that we will have to use them later. In addition, we will click on the option of Link my IP address.

In principle, with this we will have made our Public IP linked to that DNS and, therefore, block all LG advertising. But of course, our IP changes every time we restart the router… but don’t worry, there is a solution.

Add the DNS to your Smart TV and your Router

web OS 22

Well, as we mentioned, with this we have not yet completely finished with the problem. As you can see, advertising and recommendations continue to appear in the main menu. Let’s add those DNS to the TV. How? nothing easier than going to Settings -> General -> Network -> Wired Connection (or Wifidepending on whether we have it connected) -in previous models the route is not exactly that, but it is similar-.

Once there we will have to disable IPv6 option. Once done, we will give the Edit button and we will remove the option to Set automatically. And we can now freely edit the fields that will appear there. Look where it says DNS and put one of the two that you noted in the previous step:

Perfect, we have already done an important part. Even so, the TV has the ability to bypass our new DNS settings and continue to serve us advertisingso we strongly recommend put those DNS also in the router.

To do this, on a PC, we will open the web browser and go to the address of the router, normally 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 and we will put the access password (generally you will find it under the router). Already in the web of the router, look for some option of Advanced settings -if you are not already- and from there to the section of DNS.where you can remove those from your provider and enter those of NextDNS:

And to finish we restart the router, being the most comfortable option to remove the power cable and reconnect it. Now yes, with this we will have 100% blocked all LG advertising. To finish, we would recommend turning the TV off and on completely.

For this we will go to Support -> Privacy and terms -> User agreements and we will uncheck the Voice information option and we will give Accept.

The television will tell us that it will turn off and turn on again, just what we want. When we are back on the television, remember to activate that option again… but you will see that no trace of LG’s intrusive advertising.
