At the end of 2021, Samsung launched a brand new photo application called Expert Raw. Initially reserved for Galaxy S21 Ultra owners, this app allows experienced photographers to access advanced features, such as a histogram, HDR mode support and even the ability to save in Lossless JPEG and 16-bit Linear DNW Raw formats.

Moreover, the application offers full compatibility with Adobe Lightroom, since it is possible to open its DNG Raw files directly in the photo editing software of the Adobe suite. You are then free to modify the shadow and light areas, the saturation or even the tint of your shots at will.

In February 2022, Samsung announced the future deployment of the app on other brand smartphones, such as all Galaxy S22s. In April, it will be the turn of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to welcome Expert Raw, while owners of Galaxy s20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be able to enjoy it in the first half of 2022.

Better low-light performance with Expert RAW

However, Samsung has just released a new update for the Expert RAW application. Do not expect a revolution with this version 1.0.01, this update simply improves the clarity of your photos in low light. As a reminder, Samsung has promised that it intends to improve the photo part and the durability of its next foldable smartphones, and in particular the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

More specifically, the next foldable device from the Seoul firm would be equipped with a 10 MP sensor with a 3x optical zoom, the same lens found on the Galaxy S22. Besides, a better front sensor would also be included, this time with 10 megapixels. What to offer a better rendering in your selfies. Regarding durability, Samsung intends to use a single part instead of two to compose the hinge of the Z Fold 4. Thanks to these modifications, it will reduce portability by reducing the weight and thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
