SAP Sapphire 2022: “doing nothing is not an option”

SAP has once again chosen Madrid to organize its SAP Sapphirean event that this year has brought together clients and partners from more than 43 countries in its EMEA South region and that has had the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, as one of the main protagonists of the inaugural keynote.

Scott Russell, a member of the SAP Executive Committee who leads the Customer Success area, and who has been the “master of ceremonies” of the event, has summed up the spirit of the meeting when, a few seconds after the keynote began, he stated that “the word What is going to be repeated most today is business transformation because, in a world like the current one, doing nothing is not an option; it is essential to transform and to achieve this we must take advantage of the capacity of technology to continuously innovate”.

In addition, and as the rest of the guests who participated throughout the morning explained below, companies are currently facing three major challenges that urgently need to be addressed: the speed at which businesses have to transform to staying competitive, supply chain management at a time of heightened global uncertainty, and lastly, sustainability.

President of SAP EMEA South, Raptopoulos Hands, He went on to explain that in order to respond to these challenges, “SAP is betting on the integration of processes and is investing in different areas such as the digital core of business, customer experience or people management. It is creating the largest business network in the world, in which it unites suppliers and customers”, and went on to explain that it is working on “autonomous ERP, the transformation of business processes or artificial intelligence and, of course, Cloud to guarantee the business continuity. In the last part of the main session of SAP Sapphire Madrid, the general manager of SAP Spain, Felix Purse, has moderated a round table on great stories of business transformation such as that of the pharmaceutical company ESTEVE, exposed by the Global Technology (CIO) & Digital Transformation Director, Sira Martínez; the retail WoW Concept, explained by its president and founder, Dimas Gimeno; and that of the services company Ilunion, reported by its Corporate Director of Transformation, Development and Brand, Óscar da Pena.
