SIMO Education 3.0: Learning in the era of Artificial Intelligence

On November 14, a new edition of the fair on education and new technologies and trends in the educational world SIMO Educación. It will take place in pavilion 12 of IFEMA Madrid for three days, and on this occasion its motto is «Education in the era of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring new frontiers»which gives a fairly accurate idea of ​​what the technology will be the protagonist of the event until its conclusion on November 16.

In addition to special attention to AI, at SIMO education there will be all kinds of spaces, talks and meetings in which the latest in technology and innovation for classrooms and learning, dual vocational training, AI applied to education and even e-sports.

It will also be seen how technology and developments in education can boost the creativity and motivation of students, and even contribute to their emotional well-being. All in line with the UNESCO 2021 report, which refers to the transformation potential of technology and innovation in educational systems, among other points.

Four main areas, with AI as a transversal technology to all

SIMO Educación 2023 will distribute its contents in four main areas: technology and innovation for the classroom and learning, the potential and weight that the e-sports in education as a tool for motivation and improvement of skills, mental health and emotional educationand the Dual Vocational Training. Cross-cutting all of them, everything that applied AI can offer to the world of education as a facilitator of learning and its personalization for the particular needs of each student will be shown.

In its pavilion there will be an exhibition area, in which various technology companies will participate to show their products related to education, as well as their technological innovations applied to classrooms and learning. Among them will be Epson, which will recreate an immersive classroom at its stand, with the help of its partner Simersive. In this area they will also exhibit their news on technology and technological education such as Asus, Dell Technologies or Google.

Several teaching initiatives will also be shown at the fair, chosen and awarded for their innovation in pedagogy and technology, and the XI Awards for Educational Innovation and Innovative Teaching Experiences will be given. It will also have a program of conferences and practical workshops on educational innovation, among other events.

Thus, the Innova platform will highlight 10 technological contributions in the educational field, led by the most relevant companies in the sector. Among them are initiatives that will show the impact of AI in advanced solutions and tools, an application for young people that aims to convert anxiety into public speaking skills, a room reservation software with Google EDLA certification, software solutions to generate interactive content and enhance audience engagement, a Google-certified interactive display and a high-speed 3D printer with advanced features.

As for the Makers space, will connect teachers and students to demonstrate how to advance knowledge through practice and the use of different technology solutions. Among them robots, programming kits and 3D printers. Meanwhile, the Impulso platform will be in charge of revealing company projects and startups dedicated to technology applied to the educational world.

SIMO Education Impulse

The platform SIMO Education Impulse, which has the support of the Madri+d and SEK-Lab Foundation, will have the mission of rewarding various educational projects in which technology plays a prominent role. Among them, the one developed by Head SCCL, a company dedicated to closing the digital divide in vulnerable groups, especially children with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion. To do this, they have developed Scratch Jr Tactile, a touch-based, offline version of the popular Scratch programming language. With it, students can work on skills from different areas, apart from digital ones. Among them, linguistics, artistic and arithmetic.

Another of the projects that are eligible to be awarded at Impulso is presented by ID2AR, a company specialized in the training of teaching teams for the implementation of the project-based learning (PBL) methodology in Vocational Training, and which offers a software platform that facilitates the planning, execution and evaluation of educational projects in FP.

Kdimension, on the other hand, is a three-dimensional world of AAA-quality knowledge. In it, students and teachers can interact with the information in a natural and organic way. When used with virtual reality glasses, concepts can be visualized in the form of a neural network, and interact with various gamification systems from the gaming world.

Monk is a platform focused on evaluating the level of mathematics skills of primary school students. It offers adaptive tests, in a half-hour phase, and attitude tests, to know the student’s concept and level of enjoyment with mathematics. Another of the platforms competing for a prize in Impulso is Graddus, interactive and based on AI and which shows students the study possibilities that best fit their profile once they have completed secondary school. It is a SaaS for educational centers, which facilitates communication between teachers and students.

Within the framework of the fair, in pavilion 6 of IFEMA, the European Robotics Week 2023, HispaRob, with practical workshops given by the organizations that participate in the Educational Robotics Thematic Group, its organizer. They will also hold a program of conferences in which there will be a mix of cinema, robotics, STEAM disciplines and education.

Among the public entities that will participate in the event is the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training, INTEF, which will be in charge of organizing conferences on topics such as AI, the classroom of the future, programming and robotics or digital skills. The Education Departments of Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Murcia will also participate; with the aim of presenting their ICT innovation projects in various educational centers in their respective regions.
