Sosh has just confirmed the launch of its very first 5G plan. Offered at an advantageous price, Orange (the parent company of Sosh) hopes to seduce consumers with this new formula. It must be said that the operator has fallen behind in the race for packages, especially against Free.
While the number of new SIM cards activated in France is plummeting for the first time since the end of 2020, French operators are looking for a way to seduce consumers again.
It must be said that with the successive price increases made since the end of 2022, the Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free packages are no longer necessarily popular with the French.
Orange launches its first low-cost 5G plan at Sosh
To win back users, Orange has just announced the launch via its subsidiary Sosh of its first low-cost 5G plan. As can be seen on the dedicated page to this new formula, this package has a rather advantageous price: €20.99 per month. For this price, it will be necessary to count on a rather generous data envelope of 140 GB to which we add:
- unlimited calls and texts in France
- 25 GB of internet in Europe and DOM-TOM (excluding Switzerland and Andorra)
- SIM card or eSIM
- No engagement
- Free mobile number retention
By way of comparison, Orange’s first 5G offer offers “only” 100 GB of data at €16.99 per month… The first year. Then, the price increases to €31.99 for any new subscription. Conversely, Sosh guarantees this price of €20.99 (for now).
According to Sosh, this offer will be accessible only in metropolitan France, only in areas where the 5G network is deployed. The theoretical maximum receive connection rate will be up to 2.1 Gbps in areas covered in 3.5GHz with aggregation of the four 4G frequency bands, and up to 616 Mbps for areas covered in 2.1GHz used for 4G.
Note that the launch of this offer is not a coincidence. In the first quarter of 2023, Orange is lagging far behind, just like SFR moreover, in the subscriptions of new packages. While the operator only opened 3,000 new lines, Free exploded the counters with 172,000 new subscribers over this period.
