One of the main characteristics that define multimedia content streaming services such as Spotify, is the access to all this through the Internet. This allows us to play music anywhere and from virtually any device, at any time.
The Internet is part of our lives and we can access its websites and platforms from almost anywhere. However, the coverage that we can obtain is not always going to be what we want, or we simply will not have a connection. The streaming platforms that we talked about before lose a good part of their essence in these cases. If we focus on services with these characteristics that refer to music, it is undoubtedly Spotify is the platform preferred by the majority.
It has not stopped growing both in terms of users and content over the years, as well as the functions and tools that its developers offer us. That is why we are going to talk about a new functionality that is about to arrive and that most of you will surely love. And it is that as long as we have Internet access, streaming applications such as Spotify offer us a huge number of songs for immediate access. But as you can imagine, if we do not have a connection, all this is useless.
It is true that, for example, Spotify allows us to download songs and playlists to listen to them when we do not have a connection. However, the heads of the platform want to go a step further and improve our experience in these uncomfortable situations.
What Spotify plans to listen to music offline
Hence, now those responsible for this online platform are working on a function so that we can enjoy our content offline. Specifically, we are referring to a new offline mixed playlist that Spotify will offer us shortly. Basically, the official application of the music service will be prepared to automatically download songs based on our activity.
We’ve been testing out a new feature called "Your Offline Mix" – a playlist designed for those times when you might not be online ✈️

This is something that the CEO of Spotify has already talked about, and in fact has shared a screenshot on Twitter. Thus, it shows us this new function that is in full development. Basically we are going to find a playlist designed by the app for those moments in which we are not connected, everything automatically. We must bear in mind that some reports suggest that the platform has been working on this new function since at least 2020.
At the moment there is no exact date for its launch and making it available to everyone. We must also bear in mind that one of the advantages of this new functionality is that the offline playlist that is created automatically could store several hours of music. In the event that we run out of connection, we could access it and play the downloaded content based on our preferences, randomly. Basically this means that if we suddenly go offline and have not downloaded anything from Spotify, we will be able to access this new playlist that was created automatically.
