Squid Game: The phone number that appears in the series really exists, and the owner is desperate

Squid Game performed very well on Netflix and has quickly become the most viewed series on the video on demand platform, ranking first in the top 10 of many countries (including Italy). A success that seems to have unexpectedly overwhelmed its creator, now in doubt about the possible arrival of Squid Game 2, as well as the phone number owner appearing on the show which, now, seems to have no peace.

Squid Game’s phone number really exists, and its owner is desperate

Apparently, the phone number that appears on the business card delivered to Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) during the first episode of Squid Game really exists in South Korea, and belongs to a forty year old who lives in Gyeonggi province.

As you can imagine, after the success of the series the owner is incessantly disturbed by phone calls, about 4000 per day, and only later discovered that the constant ringing of his phone was caused by the arrival of the series on Netflix.

“I have been receiving calls and texts endlessly, 24/7, to the point where it is difficult for me to get on with daily life”, the forty-year-old told a local news bulletin, “This is a number I’ve been using for over 10 years, so I’m pretty surprised.”

Phone calls seem to go on uninterrupted, day and night, to the point that the phone’s battery runs out very quickly, eventually shutting down several times a day.

A Netflix rep said it is currently working to correct the problem. “Netflix, as well as Squid Game production company Cyron Pictures, are aware of the problem and are working to fix it “, can be read in the statement.
