When it comes to technology and the speed it’s been moving at, half of our advancements would have seemed impossible just a decade ago. That being said, the huge push on key areas such as mobile, gaming and medicine have improved the communication and life expectancy rates for billions of people around the world. So taking these three into consideration, where have we seen the largest jumps and what could the future hold for them?
Mobile
Just a few decades ago, the idea of mobile phones was foreign at best, but throughout the last ten years, the changes in both performance and connectivity have been remarkable. The inclusion of first 4G then 5G has allowed people to experience super-fast speeds on the go, whilst the gap between desktop computers and mobile devices has been flattened to almost nothing.
With people now working from home more than usual due to the last few years impact, not to mention the advancements in mobile tablets as well, people are turning to handheld devices more and more for their video calls, meetings and chats as it allows a more flexible and comfortable working model. With the competition still strong between brands like Apple and Samsung, the next decade will surely see a huge swing towards VR/AR (if the Apple glasses and competition ever get launched) and arguably even faster speeds that make desktop computers obsolete and astound even the most tech-savvy of us today.
Gaming
Gaming has long been thought of as what gameplay you can get from your Playstation, xBox or Nintendo console, but the reality is that it is so much more. Gone are the days where your desktop was unrivalled in its’ graphics and people were forced to wait for slow loading times as your dial-up connection hummed its’ way to getting you online. Now it’s all about mobile gameplay, MMORPG’s like WOW and, for those who fancy a flutter, a whole heap of online gambling sites that are being plugged on almost devices. While the next decade for medical is almost impossible to predict, we expect to see further wins in the battle against major diseases, focusses on elongating live times and much much more.
