Tesla has never hidden its ambitions for video games. When the brand’s cars will be able to offer a level 5 autonomous driving system (no human intervention necessary), the manufacturer wants to be able to offer AAA video games from its infotainment screen.

At the start of 2021, Tesla made a major announcement: the new Model S and Model X will ship an integrated gaming PC with a power of 10 teraflops, almost as much as a PS5. In addition, they will have an AMD RDNA 2 graphics card and a latest generation Ryzen CPU. The objective is clear: to be able to play gourmet titles like The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077 quietly installed in your car. Everything will obviously go through Tesla Arcadethe manufacturer’s gaming platform.

Steam games soon on Tesla? Elon Musk says so

Only and since its announcements, this computing power praised many times by the billionaire is not really exploited, since Tesla Arcade currently offers games without scale, such as games from the Atari catalog or even Sonic, the latest to arrive. However, the manufacturer obviously intends to move up a gear as evidenced by a statement from Elon Musk on Twitter.

While the boss praised studio CD Projekt RED for the work done on Cyberpunk 2077, he took the opportunity to make a major announcement : “We try to run all Steam games on Tesla rather than specific titles. We will obviously focus on the first point in the long term”. In the continuation of the discussion, Elon Musk reiterated his goal to make Cyberpunk work on his current carsbut also on the Cybertruck, its next electric pick-up with a futuristic design.

As a reminder, a recent survey proved that Tesla Arcade games worked when the car was running. Unsurprisingly, US authorities deemed the practice extremely dangerous, and Tesla scrapped the possibility a few weeks later.
