Teufel Supreme On: sound and elegance go hand in hand

When we take the Teufel Supreme On headphones out of the box, we find ourselves before an old acquaintance. A design with elegant lines, which already sounds familiar to us from the Teufel BOOMSTER, a speaker that we had the opportunity to analyze a few months ago. The German brand does not disappoint with its designs, always elegant, with quality materials and attention to detail.

It is a light and resistant bluetooth wireless headphones. With a design especially oriented towards smartphones, although compatible with any type of device, which includes a joystick that allows us to control playback without using the smartphone.

The Teufel Supreme On have a battery of up to 30 hours, 25 with aptX™ at medium volume, and with just 15 minutes of charging they give us more than an hour of playback. A charging speed that is especially useful when you are not in the habit of regularly charging your headphones (my case, I have to confess).

If you still don’t have time, you always have the option of connecting them by cable (included in the pack), which includes a microphone and a control button for playback.

In addition to being elegant, the design is flexible and robust. They can be folded, and the inner pad covers the entire headband, to provide comfort. The sensation of the headphones is that of having a quality device, with quality finishes and materials, while remaining resistant. They even tell us from Teufel that the headphones survive a free fall from a height of 1.5m. We haven’t checked it just in case, but we believe it.

One of the details that most attracts our attention is that the headphones are designed to be suitable for users with glasses. On the inside of the headband it includes padding that, in addition to being compatible with glasses, provides comfort for any user.

Another detail to highlight is that this device includes the ShareMe function, with which we can connect two headphones wirelessly to a smartphone (but you will need another pair of compatible Teufel headphones), and also the party function, to connect the same headphone to two devices. An option that, although it makes more sense on devices such as speakers, could be useful for sharing your playlists with another person.

They have detection in the ear, a function that I find especially useful. It works in such a way that, as soon as you put on the headphones, any audio or video that you had paused starts to play automatically, without having to hit play. Similarly, when you take them off it automatically pauses.

The ergonomics of the pads is one of the negative points, in my experience, in these headphones. For prolonged use, despite the padding of the ear cushions and the flexibility of the headband, they can be annoying and even cause some pain caused by pressure. These types of problems are, of course, very personal, and depend both on the physiognomy of each person and on the use made of the device. In my case, the use has been mainly professional, with prolonged use throughout a work day, and I have found myself with this discomfort a few days after several hours of uninterrupted use.

Sound

But let’s get to the really important thing, the sound. With the Teufel Supreme On we can enjoy precise highs and powerful kick bass on any compatible device. However, it is with the Teufel Headphones application that we can really get the most out of this device, adjusting the equalization according to our tastes.

To make it more accessible to everyone, the app includes an equalizer preset list, where you can choose from a list of simple options that will set the optimal settings for whatever you’re listening to: podcast, techno, pop, treble boost , Rock, Classic, Custom, Neutral, and Bass Boost.

Although they do not have sound cancellation as such, the Teufel Supreme On include external sound attenuation, and good absorption of external noise.

To make them more versatile, they include a microphone with Qualcomm® cVc™ technology for calls or online conferences, with good sound quality.

Compatibility

The Teufel Supreme On are compatible with Android, iOS and Microsoft, but thanks to the app they are especially recommended for smartphones and tablets. This is because it is the equalization through this app that provides true sound quality. In fact, in my experience I have tried them linked to a PC, and with very loud sounds they can saturate a bit. Much smoother and finer the sound after equalizing.

If we add to this the joystick control that we mentioned earlier, we find ourselves before a device specially designed to be the perfect companion for our smartphone. Simply press the stick up, down, to the side or in the center to control playback, make calls or operate the voice assistant.

In terms of connectivity, we have bluetooth 5.0 with aptX™ and AAC, which provides a stable connection with a range of about 10 meters, which is especially useful if you link them to a computer and want to move around the house, or if you do not want to carry the smartphone always on top.

AAC is available on Android, but primarily on iOS devices, while the aptX™ codec does not currently work on iOS systems.
